THE LAUNCH OF A NEW SILLY & INTERACTIVE SPOKEN WORD NIGHT!
Come along to watch and celebrate 8 fantastic poets speak their words to a hat-wearing audience (YOU!) and show your appreciation for their courage in performing by throwing your hat onto the stage in a chaotically communal “Hats off to you!” moment when they finish their set!
But, why?
Well, Google AI describes the expression “Hats off to you!” as:
“the physical act of taking off or raising one’s hat as a sign of respect, though it is now used metaphorically without needing to be wearing a hat.”
At Hats Off Poetry, the audience not only takes off or raises their hats but also chucks it at the poet in appreciation of the literary genius presented to you. It’s going to be literal literature and literature literally respected, not just metaphorically!
So please come prepared with a hat to throw and join in the fun. 10 points if you get it on the poet’s head!
For any more info and any questions, find @alibpoetry on Instagram and “throw” a message her way.
p.s. Zero poets will be harmed in the hat throwing process. We operate a strict no-hat-poaching policy; if its not your chapeau or cap, do make sure you give it back. A lost hat meeting point will ensure hats are safely returned to the owner’s head.
