The leading stand up new material an open mic night on the South Coast run in an independent venue and attended by professionals, semi professionals and amateurs.
A fast paced, new material open mic comedy night. Come and watch some of the best comics on the open circuit live or die. Hilarious or painful but never mediocre!
Doors open 7pm, event starts 8pm. You can buy advance tickets online or on the door if we are not sold out.
The format of the night is up to 15 comedians per event, with each comedian getting a 5 min slot to try out their best new material. Occasionally TV comics and top names pop in to test stuff out. Inclusive and friendly, this is also where we find acts for our paid gigs on the weekends and for Brighton Fringe Festival, etc..
It is a great night to try out some of your newest material or just come down to support others and enjoy the intimate environment. We can provide video and audio of your performance for £10 This night is all about supporting each other and having a good time. We also ask acts to please arrive by the start of the show at 8pm if you want a spot. We cannot guarantee you a spot if you arrive after 8pm and have not spoken to us in advance. you need to book in with us to perform. This is not a walk in night
COVID SAFETY MEASURES:
The government has announced that, from Monday 14 September, the limit on social gatherings will be reduced from 30 to 6. This change does not affect performances at The Secret Comedy Club. This is because we are following the safety and hygiene measures for businesses set out by the government in its performing arts guidance. As such, tickets are only available in fixed groups, where 2, 3, or a maximum of 6 tickets are seated together; each group must only consist of one household or support bubble; each group is distanced by at least 1 metre from the other groups; audiences not sat face-to-face; everyone is temperature screened on arrival; and face coverings are mandatory throughout the venue when not eating or drinking.
Performances can carry on at, or after, 22:00 to allow a performance to finish which began before 22:00, but food and drink supply must stop at 22.00.
TABLE SERVICE RULES
Restricted businesses that serve alcohol for consumption on the premises must ensure:
- the food or drink is ordered by, and served to, a customer who is seated on the premises; and
- they take all reasonable steps to ensure that the customer remains seated whilst consuming the food or drink on the premises.
This means that customers do not need to be eating or actually at a table to be served. They just need to be seated
